Far too often, as soon as the food goes in front of us, we check out.
We not only mentally tune out by obsessing about how many calories are in the food—we also escape by eating while we’re distracting ourselves by reading, watching TV, playing with our phones, or driving in the car.
The problem is, when we tune out our brains, we shut down our ability to truly receive, digest, and tune into our food.
This diminishes our metabolic power.
And it means we can easily miss the signals our body’s telling us that it’s had enough or needs something different.
